Join us for our Public Newsroom 152 focusing on supporting migrants to Chicago.
More than 13,000 migrants have arrived in Chicago since August 2022. As the City attempts to relocate migrants out of police stations and neighborhood shelters, local Chicagoans have stepped up. Since May 2023, volunteers at Christ Lutheran Church have opened their doors to five families and provided resources to support their everyday lives.
In this Public Newsroom, we’ll learn about how this volunteer group organized collectively and how you can support their work or other groups in the city.
Please note that we will be in their Albany Park space for this Public Newsroom.
Free food and drink provided.
Guest speakers include:
Dr. Rhoda Gutierrez: Migrant Support-Core Volunteer Member
Veronica Llerena: Migrant Support-Core Volunteer Member
Pastor Thomas Terrell: Pastor of Christ Lutheran Church
