“What’s it like to work at City Bureau?” is the most common question we hear.
Since City Bureau is hiring for four new positions right now, we hosted a job info session. We started with a presentation about the Engagement Reporter position, then switched to answering questions about the other three positions and City Bureau at large. We want to thank participants for the thoughtful questions they asked about our roles, strategy and internal culture.
(Apologies for the abrupt start to the video—somebody got so excited that they forgot to hit record! But just to intro the folks speaking in the video, they are Bettina Chang, Cristina Salgado and Max Resnik.)
One of the most common questions we get from applicants during the hiring process is, “What is it like to work at City Bureau?” We asked our staff to answer for themselves, and have included a few select quotes below:
“Working at CB is like working with 13 other people that are just as committed to building a forward-thinking org as they are to helping you become the most resilient, creative version of yourself.”
“One thing I love about working at CB is that even when things aren't perfect, every person on the team is dedicated to making CB and our work better. Creativity and collaboration are valued no matter what work you're doing. There's lots of opportunities to grow, and this team is just a lot of fun!”
"What I love about working with CB is the universal dedication to do things differently and the commitment to thinking deeply about the challenges that face our communities and our industry."
“For me personally, City Bureau has always been a space to learn. Whether it's a conference you've always wanted to attend or the chance to learn a new programming language, there's a tangible investment in your professional growth that you self-direct. Your coworkers are a dream, too, and work with intention. It's rare to work in a place that sees you as a whole, dynamic person but I found that here. City Bureau is also fun.”
“Working at CB is like going to your favorite coffee shop but its been converted into a coworking space. You’re working on a passion project and all of your coworkers are as well! It’s a chill, fun, catalyzing environment!”
