For this month’s Community of Practice, Better Government Association’s (BGA) Alex Nitkin will join us to talk about City Council.
Last month BGA’s policy team held a in-depth seminar on the history, rules, and workings of Chicago City Council. Our CoP will explore those same rules and workings on a more basic level. We’ll answer questions such as what does an Alder do, what is the mayor’s role in City Council, and what the new rules mean for Chicago’s residents.
This is all happening Wednesday, May 31 from 6pm - 7:30pm at City Bureau’s Office (3619 S State St).
As usual, all you have to bring is your enthusiasm and willingness to learn! CoPs are for Documenters, but everyone is welcome. If you haven’t taken an assignment in a while (or ever) or are looking for other ways to be involved, this is a great gathering for you!
