This one-hour training will introduce you to local government in Chicago and how to monitor it for the public good. You’ll learn the basics of notetaking and open meeting law—and how each can be used to document local public government agencies and hold elected officials accountable.

Upon completion of this community-building workshop and a brief quiz, a digital badge will be added to your Documenters.org profile. We strongly recommend this training, as public meetings are our most common assignment offering.

It’s all happening Tuesday, January 17, from 6:30 -7:30 p.m. CST via videochat––register to receive access details.

NOTE: We offer other Documenters trainings such as interviewing and live-tweeting workshops to give you the support and preparation you need. You must attend at least one orientation to become eligible for paid Documenters assignments. We will be hosting a Chicago Documenters orientation immediately before this training, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. CST.
